Exactly... The real pressure is on the women... I know that'll attract some comments, but I don't care. It's the truth. The women are the ones who are really under the gun when it comes to the standards...

Last time I left church (backslid, whatever you want to call it), did 'wore the uniform' and didn't cut my hair for over a year...all while living like the devil.

But hey, I looked saved!
That's the way it is when you don't really have a firm footing in scripture for your doctrine. Rather than point it out clearly in the Word, just tell people that they have a rebellious spirit and need to repent and submit to the authority that God has placed them under.

The reason? The men make all the rules!

Re: No Thanks, I Will Stay Old Time Pentecost

Bye Bye Old Time Pentecost, I am no longer entrapped by your inflated heritage and prophecies that revival is just around the corner. Preachers that say this is my last night to come to the altar and followed by a story of some sad soul who didn't go to the altar and was gunned down at the 7-eleven. I mean what does it take to be saved around here.

Bye Bye Old Time Pentecost, I will no longer have to contend with hate and anger from five generations of backslide children and grandchildren who knew the truth about all the sin swept out of sight yet still look as holy as ever and are involved in everything from music ministry to Sunday school.

Bye Bye Old Time Pentecost, I hope I never see another sincere convert come down to the altar only to be told, "you almost got it" come back again all the while those that shout and speak in tongues the most were the worst sinners.

Bye Bye Old Time Pentecost, maybe now I can actually invite friends and family to church without them being abused spiritually and if they happen to get to the altar, physically.

Bye Bye Old Time Pentecost, it took me a long time but I actually found out that most trinitarians don't believe in three Gods. In fact, they use the same scriptures to talk about God as we oneness do and almost the same terminology.

Bye Bye Old Time Pentecost, you filled my mind with fear and propaganda that if I ever questioned anything I was headed down the slippery slope and we all knew that it lead to a life of six packs and cigarettes followed by a slow death by lung cancer or some other dreadful lifestyle. But what, I actually found out that there were good Christian folks who loved God with all their heart that had left our movement. And guess what, these folks actually had the fruits of the spirit demonstrated in their lives.

Bye Bye Old Time Pentecost, you preached another gospel to me. A gospel of fear and anxiety. A gospel made up of only Baptism and tongues. I was never taught Christ and him crucified. I was never taught the love of God and how he sent his only son so that I might be saved. Only Acts 2:38 and how everybody else was wrong and going to hell.

Bye Bye Old Time Pentecost, one year away from you has changed my life forever.

Epic.
Maybe you should consider making a donation to support the hosting fees (post-BOOMM). If AFF has provided a theurapeudic (I need to learn how to spell that word!) session of this degree, its a small price to offer up!

Deltaguitar

I am sincerely sorry that was your experience and from that paradigm I understand your response.

In my case however the majority of memories about Old Tyme Pentecost are quite different.

Re: No Thanks, I Will Stay Old Time Pentecost

I was reading the posts this morning and an old chorus came back to me they sung 40-50 years ago I will share it with you.
Goodbye-farewell I told this world goodbye,
I walked across that separating line,
And told this old world goodbye.

And another
I am Marked-marked-marked
I am marked whereever I go
I am marked-marked-marked
what I have everybody seems to know
I am sealed-sealed-sealed
I am sealed by his Spirit divine
Glory to God Halleluia Amen
I am His and I know He is mine.

I am Happy with my experience-my home in Pentecost. I have family who pioneered the Charismatic movement they are not happy. I am happy.

Sorry but human nature seems to happen more than just in pentecost!

Sad, but it doesn't mean truth is still not truth. Also I don't believe in the you ALL MOST GOT IT! Also human nature of hypocrisy is everywhere and not limited to religious affiliation. So basically we can all just accept they received the HS by reciting a prayer?

doesn't happen everywhere so stop putting everyone under this umbrella.

No, most don't because most don't actually believe in the actual doctrine. Trinitarian dogma leads to TRITHEISM and there is no way around it. Also just because you error in understanding that the difference is more than symantics doesn't change the fact of a huge difference in teaching.

Wow you haven't been to many ole time baptist churches have you! Also just because you have alleged fruits of the Spirit still does not mean you are saved as many will come saying Lord, Lord.....

Just because you where not taught properly does not mean OLE TIME PENTECOST is the same everywhere! Truth is Truth and everyone sends somebody to hell in there beliefs!
