By the way, while I'm on the topic, there is WAY too much of this "my degree is better than yours" or "my degree is valid and yours is just a piece of paper" type of thing going on. Last time I checked, that kind of talk was against scripture. My old principal used to teach us not to do that--something about EMULATIONS.
If you have to put another person down to lift yourself up, you have serious issues. Even if they DESERVE it.
ms brat,
comparing ourselves among ourselves is not wise.
purposing to bring titles into an online discussion forum is an effort to create differentiators, fundementally for the purpose of making comparisons based on relativity involving temporal titles.
I do not know whether it was your direct purpose or not, but IMO, the username that is the topical focus in this thread perpetrating the very thing your quoted post is warning against.
I count this in the same category as REVERAND_______, PASTOR______, and whatever other titles AB alluded to.

I disagree with you, simply because this is, for many people, myself included a place where anonymity is important. I have shared my identity with SOME people, most people probably only have a vague idea, and if I tell something personal about myself under an anonymous identity, then I should NOT be required to prove it to you by providing real information about myself. That is a violation of privacy.
Will I be asked to produce photos to prove I have three children? Or their birth certificates to prove they're really mine?
This is silly, if you ask me. You don't really NEED to know whether Dr. V is actually a doctor. You just WANT to know. Big difference.
Difference here is he wasn't trying to hide who he was. He has posted his myspace link here with all his family photos, etc.
We would never ask someone to reveal WHO they are that hasn't already made that privy to the board.

It isn't even really the issue of wanting to know that bothers me. I, too, would like to know if he has a degree. It's the whole pack of dogs mentality over the issue that bothers me. How many different threads got started about this same issue? Why? Because people think others around here owe them some sort of explanation, I guess. I've seen this same nonsense happen to two posters now, and the charge was led by the same group of people both times. This place is becoming nothing more than one big clique.
Maybe that's the root of the problem and why so many have problems with this.
If it was just his user name and he hadn't of made a point many times about his higher learning, it might not have become an issue.
I agree. In addition, he's posted several times about others being forthcoming and honest about things but he himself has yet to do so. He demands something from others he refuses to do.
I would agree with Abi and others who claim this is somewhat of a lynch mob, except that Vaughn got himself into this situation by not only posting his claims of a higher education, but using that claim to make himself an authority in matters he's been discussing on this forum.

Awwwwwwwww! Poor poor Regent University. I'm sure the school will thank you for all your efforts.
Ok, Rico.... I have to knock you around a bit!
If indeed you lived in an area near a good church, and you attended there and someone started claiming false things about the church, you would probably feel that it was your responsibility to set them straight. And especially if this person was TELLING OTHER PEOPLE... It is about feeling a loyalty to the school. If someone came on here and started claiming things about my former church in Cali, I would feel the need to set them straight, same with the school I WORK at.
I encounter this all the time... The church we attend now used to have a different pastor, so the community has opinions about our church that are not correct, I correct them. We had a legal issue (it was NOT a moral issue, it was actually a HAIR issue) at the school I work at, the media got A LOT of stuff wrong, and I felt like I needed to tell as many people as I could the REAL story....
