Re: Can people forget?
I think you should just get over yourself......
You are human just like the rest of us. So if we ever met I think I would just love ya. On here some of us kind of let too much of ourselves show, some don't. It's all good most of the time. It is what it is, that's life. You are not however unforgettable.

My opinion? Not that it matters, but heres what I think...
I think many value your transparency, some think you let your feelings fly too much, while others think you have issues...
Me? Oh, I don't know, I just appreciate the fact that I consider you a friend. I don't know a lot about you (certainly not enough to make a clinical assessment), but... what I do know is this...
You've been hurt in the past and your are often on the defence. Which, is not a bad thing. This is good in that you do not compromise your views and are ready to defend your position as needed. But you do it with tact. You do it with a sense of purpose. I may not agree with a particular point you make, but, no matter. The fact is, you use your past hurts to help others deal with problems they are facing.
You care. What more can be said about a person? I saw a thing on a news program of a little girl (an actor) standing on a street corner crying. The vast majority of the people just walked on by ignoring the little girl. Occasionly, someone would stop to see what was wrong. One man, went out of his way to find out the problem, and stayed they until he knew the little girl was safe. Thats you. You go that extra mile to, not only help make someone feel better, but you stay with them until they ARE better. You care. And that is why you are a valued member of this forum. Oh, you may get a little heated at times (don't we all?), and you ruffle some feathers, but, its because you care. What more can be said?
God has given all of us "talents" to use for good. Some take those talents and do things that, well, aren't so good. Others don't use those talents they've been given at all. Others use them for good. Your education is one of your many talents. But, its not just your education. Its your experience ( both professional and personal) that puts you in the position of helping people like me to use their talents for good. And you have helped me more than you will ever know. I am one of those who believe in your profession. I know first hand how a counselor can help someone who is struggling with.... emotional issues. You need no validation, sister. Your validation is in your filing cabinet at your office. People you have helped. Lives you have put back on the road to recovery. And your validation is the people you have helped right here on this forum.
I was watching "Intervention" a few weeks ago. The counselor said something very profound. She said: "The people who need help the most are the people who fight it the most". Think about that. Its true. No one wants to admit they need help. But, we all do from time to time. But we often resist the very thing we need. Believe me, there are people right here on this forum and have publicly renounced your profession- but, secretly, they've taken something you posted and found a place for it in their lives. You've affected more people than you will ever know.
"People who need help the most are the people who fight it the most". Think about it. What does this say about people who oppose you? It either says nothing about them, or it says a great deal about them. Only they, themselves, know the answer to that.
Wow, for a guy who says he don't know much about you, I sure said alot. Or maybe I said nothing at all. One piece of advice: Stay the course. Don't let YOUR feelings get in the way of using your talents for good. You are an asset. And, whether we want to admit it or not- we value you as a friend... and, more importantly, as a sister in the Lord. I love my sister in law. Della has a heart of gold. But I don't care for her peach cobbler. I may not agree with everything you say, but you say enough that I do agree with that makes me value you as a friend. And... you care... What more can be said?

OneAccord,
Nothing more can be said, and i am honored. You know me better than you think you do. Those who have made it through the rain...identify others through their scars.
Now I am beginning my day crying...the majority of things used, or held against me is all because I care...too much at times. I have an hour drive to think about this post.
Respectfully,
Rhonda

Re: Can people forget?
Rhoni,
Correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe you are asking "can people forget" what all you have posted in the past and just take you for face value now. Is that correct?
Not really that you are forgettable or unforgettable - - just some of the things that have clouded you from the past, can those things be forgotten.
Great post OA!
