Re: New Testament writer had long hair

It's interesting how people will use bogus and contrived "historical accounts" and/or "historical perspective" to attempt to explain away the plain word of scripture.

As for me... I'm not impressed by a multitude of words.

True. But what happens when our interpretations of the Word doesn't line up? Maybe we should check to see if what we have is an anvil or a paperweight.

Elder,
that brought to mind an old poem I read years ago and Google helped me find it:

Last eve I passed beside a blacksmith’s door
And heard the anvil ring the vesper chime:
Then looking in, I saw upon the floor
Old hammers, worn with beating years of time.
“How many anvils have you had,” said I,
“To wear and batter all these hammers so?”
“Just one,” said he, and then, with twinkling eye,
“The anvil wears the hammers out, you know.”
And so, thought I, the anvil of God’s word,
For ages skeptic blows have beat upon;
Yet though the noise of falling blows was heard,
The anvil is unharmed . . . the hammer’s gone.

No "historical writings" can supercede what's written in the word of God. Plain and simple.
It's unfortunate that there are some who would try to cast doubt upon, or undermine, what's plainly written in scripture.
Right. When alleged history says something that contradicts the Word of God, go with the Word. The word says it is a shame for a man to have long hair. Why are people hunting for history to contradict the Word? Sounds like a Gospel of Judas spirit.
