It is clear that his "conversion" was a matter of convenience as he has documented the story himself about how when visiting a pastor in Chicago about organizing some community stuff the pastor told him he would have much more success if he were actually a part of the church community there by being a member somewhere. It was after that conversation that he visited Trinity and the crazy racist black helicopter loving pastor there inspired him to become a Christian.
