Is there a Spiritual Transformation at forgiveness
????
Are you just forgiven? Or are you also spiritually transformed or changed?

Converted...justified....not born again but made worthy by the imputation of grace to enter in to the completeness of the New Birth...yes there is a spiritual transference of grace.

You know, Christ came to make it easy for all of mankind, from the simple-mided to the most educated. You can get lost in the depths of some of these words and their meanings...but the gospel is simple...really.
PETER MADE IT VERY CLEAR WHAT WE HAD TO DO TO BE SAVED:
1. REPENT [IF YOU TRULY REPENT IT TRANSFORMS YOUR LIFE - IT CHANGES YOU]
2. BE BAPITZED IN JESUS NAME FOR THE REMISSION OF THOSE SINS YOU JUST REPENTED OVER.
3. YOU SHALL RECEIVE HIS SPIRIT - THE HOLY SPIRIT/HOLY GHOST
AT THE POINT YOU BELIEVE IN JESUS CHRIST AND HIS WORD..YOU WILL OBEY AND BE TRANSFORMED.
BLESSINGS,
RHONI

Re: Is there a Spiritual Transformation at forgive
Of course a change takes at repentance, because if you are truly sorry for being involved in sin you have made a change in your mind and lifestyle.
Of you are commanded to be buried in Jesus name and receive the Holy Ghost after repentance.
The Holy Ghost gives you the power to honor your commitment to Christ, you made at repentance.

Re: Is there a Spiritual Transformation at forgive
as i prob won't be back on here for a couple of days i don't want to be drawn too deeply into this discussion. but, i'll do a drive-by and leave my opinion, for whatever it's worth.
we are changed at forgiveness in the sense that spiritually we are born again and our standing with God is changed from a negative to a positive one. The Holy Spirit then helps us begin the life-long process of spiritual/worldview/mental/behavioral transformation as long we continue to learn about Christ and cooperate with Him as he makes us more like him. For some this process is steady and drastic changes take place as they stay focused on 'putting on Christ'. For others it is a slow process because they don't focus on discipleship, often times getting bogged down in religion.
so i would say yes, we are changed greatly at forgiveness as we have repented (switched sides, done a spiritual about face). that's a huge change of heart, and it's a spiritual one as we can only do this through coaxing and provision of Christ. from there...well, that remains to be seen.

Re: Is there a Spiritual Transformation at forgive
Yes there is a transformation at forgiveness , but it is not the transformation mentioned in Rom 12:2, for that occurs long after salvation begins.

Are you saying that we are born again as in the new birth...if so that is not true....we are not born again until we are born of the Water and Spirit....we are justified, and there is a conversion experiance, our minds have been changed....but this enables us to be born again because it changes the way God sees us...he has covered us in His rightouesness and we are made worthy of the New Birth.

Re: Is there a Spiritual Transformation at forgive
Prax, no one has posted the usual scriptures on this subject yet. When you read and work thru all of them, IMO I think the scriptures are clear "transformation" and/or "santification" is both a definate and immediate work, and at the same to progressive. It is clear to anyone that a new convert changes at salvation grows closer to God being made "more perfect."
I think on this question it is not an either or, but a "both."

Re: Is there a Spiritual Transformation at forgive
For me it was about the biggest change that took place. I turned my life around and turned my mind around at that time. The HG was the added bonus. Once I made the choice to change I changed. The HG was great and I felt wonderful afterwards, but to me the greater changed happened once I was saved (by accepting Jesus)
