ACORN's political arm endorsed Obama in February and has ramped up efforts to register voters across the country. In the meantime, completely ignored by the mainstream commentariat and clean-election crusaders, the Obama campaign admitted failing to report $800,000 in campaign payments to ACORN. They were disguised as payments to a front group called "Citizen Services, Inc." for "advance work."
This is why McCain was not an optimal choice for our candidate. He's too conciliatory to the left. The left requires defeat, not dialogue!
Many are concerned, and rightly so, that McCain will consider mentioning Obama's ACORN connections to be "dirty politics," and therefore beneath him.
But if our candidate won't talk about it, the center (the independents and undecideds, the politically oblivious) will never hear of it. Most of us know that ACORN is synonymous with election fraud, but most of America doesn't.
I sure hope McCain takes a swing or two. This "community organizer" schtick is a broken reed that Obama has been leaning on. It is literally ALL HE'S GOT. All McCain has to do is show that Obama was working with/for ACORN, out there registering people in multiple precincts and registering illegal aliens to vote, and teaching people how to become radical activists - and . . . SNAP. Turn out the lights, the party's over. Obama's candidacy won't even bounce when it hits the ground.

ACORN's Senator

Barack Obama wasn't just the second-largest recipient of Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac political contributions. He was also the senator from ACORN, the activist leader for risky "affirmative action" loans.
Obama was the attorney representing ACORN in this effort. Last November, he told the group, "I've been fighting alongside ACORN on issues you care about my entire career." Indeed he has. Obama was and is fully aware of what ACORN was doing with the money and expertise he provided. The voters should be aware on Nov. 4 of the roles of both in creating the current crisis.
If what they say is true, ACORN and groups like it would get 20% of the 700 billion dollars. In other words, 140 billion dollars! Am I correct? Or was it 20% of a portion of the money?

it was to be an outlay of the profits from the resell of these assets.
the 700 billion is to purchace mortgage backed securities that are causing financial trouble for these financial institutions. Then the Tresury is going to hold them, attempt to make some sense of them then when things cool off, resell them back into the real economy.
The belief is that while the MBS are trading for about 10 cents on the dollar, they are really worth a great deal more. However the accounting practices forced by banking regulations (law set by congress... see Sarbanes Oxley on Mark to Book) are causing these MBS to be worth much less than they are really worth.
So Paulson says they will pay 30 cents on the dollar and expect to sell them at a profit at somewhere around 60 cents on the dollar.
Democrats tried to add language to the bill that would have taken those profits and disbursed them. among those who would have recieved $$$ would have been ACORN and other community organization groups. ACORN (I believe was looking at about 20 BILLION out of that)
Republicans nixed that part of the package.
