Re: TD Jakes Speaking at COGIC convocation

I saw him on TV last night. He was looking old and tired.

Re: TD Jakes Speaking at COGIC convocation

This is contrary to popular opinion of the Bishop that he actually takes now funds or charges for ministering. Not sure if it has changed but about 2 years ago I saw him at a local church here in AZ. The pastor at that church made it VERY clear, and infact used those words "I want everyone to be 'very clear' that the Bishop does not charge for preaching here tonight." Now it might be different or something now. But the fact is that just about everywhere he goes his staff goes with him. That is the people that sell books and tapes to his personal assistants. They all go in the jet the ministry has. Whether he charges or not is irrelivant really cause he certainly pays his staff for going with him. So maybe the thing about him charging is so his staff can get paid. I have seen with my own eyes how many his staff consists of...at least 15 people I would say.

Most evangelists, missionaries, or special speakers get "love offering" I think. I don't see how he would be any different.

LOL! well there are those that get a love offering and those that get a LOVE offering....

some folk with more requests than dates... and who have high demand.... can simply state what it will cost for them to come.

Now since we are talking about TDJ, it should also be pointed out that Jakes pays very very very well to anyone who he asks to speak at Potters House.

Isn't this group trinitarian

According to another website, TD Jakes reportedly charges $50,000
for one night to speak at a conference.
This just shows how the lines are getting more and more blurred........

Its called an honorarium. So with that in mind, technically the pastor is right, Bishop Jakes "does not" charge, but trust me, he IS getting an honorarium.

Honorarium:An honorarium is an ex gratia payment made to a person for their services in a volunteer capacity or for services for which fees are not traditionally required. This is used by groups such as schools or sporting clubs to pay coaches for their costs. Another example includes the payment to a guest speaker at a conference to cover their travel, accommodation, or preparation time.

That was uncalled for sir. So I assume you believe St Mark is a compromiser because he went to a COGIC conference? A lot of UPC preachers go to non oneness events. It doesn't mean they've "gone charismatic". Good grief!

Mark has been a long time friend of mine in the WD. The guy has caught it from every side the last few months. This weekend he was unfairly mischaracterized by a couple of preachers on another forum. It's no wonder he doesn't post much. One wrong move and his pastor gets a call or an email, or he's called a liberal sympathizer for even posting on AFF.

Give it break!
