St Mark if you dont mind, please tell us what this has to do with the issue at hand here, namely the relative lack of representation of men of color in the upper echelons of the UPCI.
I agree. I'm still flabergasted that anyone would float that as a possible reason... flabbergasted also that anyone would try to give [anecdotal] support such an outrageous contention, as if it actually contains any merit.
TR, you being surprised to here this is actually pretty reassuring to me. I was wondering whether this may be something that was whispered about quietly and was actually viewed as a legitimate concern. I had never heard this before and I wonder if by him putting it out there and others possibly agreeing meant that this was something that was actually thought amongst our ranks. If so, it is shameful in my opinion and very disrespectful to the many great Black pastors, leaders, preachers, and missionaries that I know.

As I stated, I absolutely did NOT intend to throw a bomb in the discussion, much less leave, but I have not had much time on here.
You make an assertion that I received the information through UPC whispers - I did not, and explicitly prefaced my post by saying there was no UPC reference. I shared the article as I remembered it. Sorry that I did - because a quick search on the net did not take me to the full story.
Since it's become obvious you have a vested interest in this that I do not, I apologize and can remove the initial post if someone here finds it hurtful or offensive, contingent for repost if I find the story in question.

Lets be clear, Hoove:I never made any assertion that you received the information through UPC whispers, and I didn't notice where anyone else made such an assertion. But anyway...
What's done is done, what's been said has been said. You made your comments. I gave my comments in response, as others also did. You felt like clarifying your comments... the clarification is understood.
It's a dead issue with me at this point. I think we can all move along from here.

TS did state: "I was wondering whether this may be something that was whispered about quietly..."
OK with me to move along - seeing I did not realize the sensitivity involved.

Hoover, there are no hard feelings or anything personal involved. My point was that I have heard the issue raised in this thread discussed many times in my life. In those conversations, I have never heard any proclivity or disporportionate tendency towards immorality discussed as a possible contributing factor. As TR correctly pointed out, my question was whether this was something that was quietly considered as a factor or whether it was something that was just completely your opinion.
There will probably never be anything on here that will ever rise to the point where I become personally offended or hold any grudge...it was just a wrinkle that I had never heard before.
