Do you know David Payne - The Church @ Covington? He has a little over 1000 there and was UPC at one time.

I was with Bishop Jim Swilley last night at CHURCH IN THE NOW in Conyers and David Phelps (former Gaither Vocal Band) sang the house DOWN!
The Swilleys are good people - there were a LOT of Apostolic people there last night.

Anyway - I lauded and applauded YOU and told how I thought a lot of you - so you will probably be in TROUBLE with him for even eating with me!

To be honest, I just starting getting into multicultural ministries. I've always wondered what Church in the Now was all about. Went to their website and was like "uh no, I dont think so"".

The Church at Covington? Never even heard of it.... I just moved back to ATL and since 2000 I think about 500 churches done opened up in this city. No lie. Everyone has a ministry.

Indeed they are Trinitarian. However, I know of Trinitarian churches and preachers that strictly baptize in Jesus name, even if they don't baptize "for salvation". I guess the question in my mind was like ... if two of their most respected leaders [Mason/Patterson] were baptized in Jesus name, why didn't that trickle down more to other members of the COGIC senior leadership and throughout the denomination? But the question was speculative anyway.

Was it just that people just started idly speculating, or was their solid reason or evidence for people to say that?
And did his church or family ever make any statement as to actual cause of death?

Well, I do know that The Simmon's had not lived together in a while - when he passed. It was a sad situation but I am sure he got it all worked out with the Lord. Everyone was CRAZY about his preaching for sure!

NOW - About the CRAZY THOMAS WESLEY WEEKS, JR.!!!!!!!!!!!
God have mercy! We are praying that he finds somewhere else to go start a church. He is a such a reproach to the ministry and so is his showboating money grabbin' ex-wife! A REPROACH to the name of JESUS CHRIST!
They are constantly being sued here for not paying their bills.
In the news often and now Looking for WIFE # 3!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
What a pitiful excuse for a MINISTER!
He needs to move to Africa and be tribal chief or something!

And did his church or family ever make any statement as to actual cause of death?

I'm not going to get into too many details here. The leader at the time of his death demanded that the real cause of death be hidden. It was a huge embarrassment to his Org. His death hurt the faith of a lot people.
Put it this way, I know a lot of people in the gospel community who know the ones who "get around". That's about all I'll say.
