After this month, the only debt I will have is on my home. I only owe about 40% of what my home is now worth. (I expect the house value to fall!)
Mrs. Steinway and I have made a pact to not purchase anything that is not absolutely necessary until we see an improvement in the economy.
I will be watching our expenses like a hawk for the next several months until I see things ease up with the economy.
I have already paid for a trip the Key West for our 20th wedding anniversary in January. We won't be taking any other trips for vacations for a while, except to visit family.
I am putting away my golf clubs for a while.
With these moves, I have enough money put away in savings to last us for the next year or so, depending on how bad it gets.
I'm not panicking. I'm just being frugal to help us make it in case things turn worse. If things turn around quickly, it'll be no sweat off my back!
