God did it for us. Out of sheer generosity he put us in right standing with himself. A pure gift. He got us out of the mess we're in and restored us to where he always wanted us to be. And he did it by means of Jesus Christ. ~Romans 3:24 from The Message

You know..I think about this a lot. If Jesus was our role model..and we're to be like Him, then why aren't we supposed to draw attention to ourselves? Are you saying He didn't draw attention to Himself?

Re: Earrings
The works that Jesus Christ did certainly drew attention to Him,Him being God manifest in the flesh, but we should draw attention to Him through our actions, and not do things that lift us up.We should do things that lift up Jesus in our lives.
We should not do things to be seen and heard like The Pharisees did neither should we do things in extreme vanity either.
Whatever we do should bring glory and honour to God.

Re: Earrings
I don't wear earrings and I don't think it would bother me if a woman was preaching with them. BUT for a man to wear earrings preaching or just walking down the street does look ridiculous, especially if they are older men.

There is a passage referring to this in the Old Testament that the writer of Hebrews applies to Jesus. In Hebrews 10:5 the writer quotes Psalm 40:6. Because the author of Hebrews used the LXX or Greek Bible it says, "sacrifice and offering you did not desire but a body have you prepared for me." This refers to the incarnation of Christ to do the will of God. However, if you go to the Hebrew Scriptures, that passage reads somewhat different. In the NKJV and others it says, "sacrifice and offering You did not desire; My ears You have opened." Some Bibles say, "My ears You have pierced." This is in reference to the perpetual voluntary servitude of a slave in the Old Testament and pictures Jesus as the willing and obedient servant of YHWH. So, symbolically and to fulfill the type, Jesus had at least one ear pierced.
