Well, I will admit that we went to this great place (Catfish Cabin) with fried catfish, hushpuppies, french fries, etc. He ordered grilled chicken! He had never had a hushpuppy in his life; didn't even know what one was. Poor guy! BUT..........back at the house, he did eat dessert.

Re: Chick-Fil-A

aw rite now..... Yall yankyfied fruitcakes best not be talkin trash about tha south.

We eat healthy! Aint yall ever heard of a good ol southern home cooked meal, what has heapins an helpins of collard greens, homemade buttermilk biskits so light an fluffy they bout float of tha table?

Butter beans (thats baby lima beans to yall yankees) with a touch O real butter, roast beef an taters with carrots, celery, sweet onions, and some good brown gravy?

Grilled trout, (Not that farmraised store bought mess, but some wild caught fresh, thick and juicy.) smothered in lemon pepper sauce and some good ol sweet tea so cold and frosty yer fangers git frostbite?

Somebody hold my mule cause I'm gettin hongry all up around my mouth area.

Shoot fahr...... I'm so hongry my belly thinks my mouth is on strike.

Fast food is generally unhealthy everywhere. But we even have that tofunk.....er, "tofu" here in the south. The above post about food in California reminds me..... there are no "Cracker Barrels" there are there?

Thats the closest thing to good country food I've seen in a chain resteraunt.

Its "plumb good"!

My mother was from the south. They moved to Los Angeles during the great depression BUT they never stopped cooking southern style!
FRIED EVERYTHING!!!

Southern food is the Best!! I think people today can't eat too much
of it because we don't work it off.

I HATE it that there are no cracker barrels here! whenever I go to the south, people ask where i want to go eat, It's always CB!
BUT then again, I'd be fat if there was one close by

Mark, do they still have El Pollo Locos out there? That is one franchise that I would think could do well if marketed to high-protein low-carb people. If I remember correctly from Stockton it was basically different rottisserie type chicken in a fast food setting.
