I actually thought the speech was very good. I didn't hear any boos whenever he was saying all the great things about McCain and his service to the country. I think that he sent a lot of messages to the country and the international community...both those who wish us well and those who wish us ill.

Re: AFF Election Night Thread...

God forbid that it should happen -- but I have a rhetorical (sp?) question....

What would happen if he were assassinated - or even killed in a car or plane accident?

I have wondered about this before - not just because it is him - but I just wondered what is set up in the constitution regarding this. Does Biden automatically become the President-Elect?

Please don't flame me for this post.... I am asking in all sincerity....

Well I got news for ya bud, I haven't stood "on the side of our enemies" and I didn't vote for Obama.

But I am an American, and I love my country.
And I don't take kindly to you wishing America will suffer, I am one.

Our enemies are the ones who wish America would suffer......

Are you not also an American? Do you think that if America suffers you will somehow be exempt?

I do not like Obama, I wish he had lost the race. But he is now going to be the president. I pray that God intervenes, opens his eyes, and guides him in a manner that will be good for this country, and good for the Church.

I pray that my children will be able to grow up in a country that still allows freedom of religion, speech, the pursuit of happiness, individual accomplishment, personal protection, and a safe home life with good education.

For that to happen, THS PRESIDENT NEEDS OUR PRAYERS.

Re: AFF Election Night Thread...

Well, my politically conservative counterparts, all you can do now is be hopeful that all that you have thought is wrong, and that Obama will in fact live up to the romantic ideals he just presented in his acceptance speech. It WAS a very good speech, btw. He may go on to be a good President. Who can predict the future? Sour grapes and crying over spilled milk never helped anyone.

From a Christian perspective, two things:

1. Pinch yourself. You're still alive. You still have a lot to be thankful for--including this great country, and the Democratic process at work, of which I would not want to rob anyone. Philippians 4:11 "Not that I speak in respect of want: for I have learned, in whatsoever state I am, therewith to be content."

2. I Peter 2:17 "Honour all men. Love the brotherhood. Fear God. Honour the king."

P.S. Politics aside, I DO think it's pretty cool that a black man has won the highest office in our country. Don't throw tomatoes at me--I said politics aside.

Wow, the Ladies are full of encouragement. I might be able to fit you in next month for a weekend of meetings.

Re: AFF Election Night Thread...

*sigh* I am very scared and worried right now. I've hoped this election would not go this way. What exactly does a new spirit of sacrifice mean to Obama? Just how deeply is government going to cut into my family's ability to support itself? We cannot afford all that he wants to do without tremendous increases in revenue that only comes from one place: taxes. And even when those taxes are on the wealthiest and the businesses, there's a "trickle down" to the lower socioeconomic profiles with higher prices for goods and services. This will hurt us all. Sorry for the melancholy, but I am very much worried right now.
