If I remember correctly, it was in 1977, and the issue was either preaching or advertising on television.
THe resolution didn't pass, and Phillips and Hanby left at that time, probably some others, as well.
Maybe someone with a better memory than me can verify?

We were always told that if you left of your own will that you were not considered "under question". We were never "under question" when we left in 1991. I thought you were only termed that way if they asked you to leave for some reason.

Well, I don't know about all that but I have a hunch that Phillips will end up back in the UPC before it's all over.
there are several in higher power that want him back and phillips never left the UPC in his heart

Depends on the district board the minister is dealing with. They had no charge against me when I voluntarily mailed in my card--much to everyone's surprise--yet when the district board convened several months later to accept my card, they decided then that I was "under question" for violating the Articles of Faith and the national board accepted it that way.
So I am "under question" even though no one ever asked me to leave, pressed a charge against me, or had any question concerning me before I mailed in my card that I know of.

I wouldn't be surprised if this was true--except--it would have to go throught he south texas district and I'm not so sure the district super would let it happen.

Well, I've decided it really doesn't matter if you're under question or not. No one in their right mind from UPC will preach for you for fear of reprisal.
However, we have done some meetings at UPC churches, but it is kept pretty "undercover". LOL!

I cannot speak for their sources. But if you contact the Dist.Sup. of that district I am positive he will confirm that Bishop Phillips is NOT "under question".
I have....and he did.
