Jon is diabetic also, Cindy. That's another reason it was so hard on him, too.

Oh I know, bless their hearts. My husband is overweight, and has a bad knee from a high school football injury. So he really can't exercise that much.

We refinanced our van and paid cash at closing.
We have recently sold our other house releasing us of about $1000 or so per month.
We are using that to continue to pay down debt headed for debt free as fast as we can.
We have a garden, chickens and are working to make our land ready for goats & sheep.
I have priced having a water well drilled and it is too expensive so I am looking into doing it myself.
So... on a personal level.... we are doing well... but we are still moving at a very fast pace to make ourselves more ready for what is coming.

Have you thought about raising hogs. We did years ago, but they ate too much.......

Show-off.
The reason my husband drives so far is that in this rural area, there were not jobs that paid enough to raise our kids on. He has worked there over 20 years now. He use to stay up there during the week and come home on weekends. After our daughter died he started driving back and forth everyday. He has talked about early retirement, but the government taxes you so much if you do.

This is sad! Mostly I have heard of people losing money in 401K's. Yours and apomo's stories are pretty serious! I am sorry to hear that!

Well, even though he works close by the whole place could explode and he would be killed, so there is a downside. lol

Thanks ILG. It has been a very hard year for us but we will come through this and I know that it will be a faith building experience for us to be able to minister to other people in similiar situations. Even as bad as things have been, God has continued to bless us.
We put our Christmas tree up and decorated the house last night just to prove to the devil that he could not destroy our spirit!!

Yes we have... pork is good to have to mix with the other red meats for a good sausage etc.
I have been amazed at the quality of meat that a goat has nutritionally speaking. We may not get into sheep at all. I have a few goats that a guy has agreed to sell me after January 1.
