People usually draw the lines back farther to avoid temptation, which is just fine. But when it comes to the bottom line, we all control and choose what we do. I think sometimes people confuse avoiding temptation with sin itself.

Re: Questionable Meetings of AFF Members
I know it probably won't be popular but I will say that IMO a minister has to view this a good bit differently. In some ways it wouldn't matter whose kids were there or how public the place was, there will always be someone who would see the two people together and make something of it.
For a minister it is better to avoid even the appearance of impropriety. JMO.

Re: Questionable Meetings of AFF Members
I think it's improper for online folks of the opposite sex who are married or one of them is, to meet like that. However if two singles were meeting online and wanted to have a person to person date then I don't see what is wrong with that

Apostolic is defined on AFF as:
- There is One God. This one God reveals Himself distinctly as Father, Son and Holy Ghost.
- The Son is God himself in a human form or "God manifested in the flesh" (1Tim 3:16)
- Every sinner must repent of their sins.
- That Jesus name baptism is the only biblical mode of water baptism.
- That the Holy Ghost is for today and is received by faith with the initial evidence of speaking in tongues.
- The saint will go on to strive to live a holy life, pleasing to God.

Re: Questionable Meetings of AFF Members
Well... I said I wanted to stir things up - I guess I did.
With all due respect I think it varies for different people, and again reserving judgment against your fellow believer is key.
I think it is mostly a matter of maturity and self discipline. For example, I routinely meet with members of the opposite sex for coffee to discuss business. (mostly real estate agents and sales personnel) Also, I am alone with ladies in their homes on a regular basis at the time of my service calls. It is not uncommon for my first job in the mornings to be met by the lady of the house in her bath robe. These are both new and repeat customers.
Bless all of you.
Avoid the appearance of impropriety as you see it and never violate your conscience, but also know you can't please everyone all the time.

Yes, in the case of a minister there is too much room for false accusation.

Well, my son is 25 - so it was really three adults meeting.

See how those little details can make a BIG difference?
Again, my greater concern is with ministry. Although I would still caution against most married folks meeting members of the opposite sex. Obviously there are acceptable exceptions.

And just WHO would make something of it? Is someone's character that frail that someone would automatically think the worse? Do folks instantly think someone is "cheating?"
I'm sorry, I just don't think people are that mistrusting. If they are, the problem is much deeper than an innocent meeting. That is the absolute last thing I think of someone. We're too paranoid and fearful to even behave like decent human beings, IMHO.

Re: Questionable Meetings of AFF Members
Mrs. Pianoman and our daughter are both managers. A few days ago, Mrs. Pianoman took a group of contractors (men) out to a business lunch. When she walked in the restaurant, she saw our daughter at a table with two male employees talking over business issues.
They each laughed because business lunches are part of their job description. They both wondered if someone from church would see them and say, "Like mother, like daughter!"
