I’d like to thank everyone for attending the special occasion of my 2500th posts. It has been a long hard struggle to try to make people think I was smart enough to think of enough things to make this, my 2500th posts, possible. Admittedly, it has been a difficult task. There have been many, many times that I have been discouraged. I, at times, I thought it impossible to even come close to measure up to those posters who have reached this point and moved far beyond. I thought, at those low times of dispair that I was never going to measure up- that I was out of my league and that, to borrow a Biblical term, “I had been weighed in the balance and had been found wanting”.
However, I persevered, spurred on by my posting counterparts. You, my long winded friends, were my inspiration. To even aspire to reach your heights was a daunting challenge… but it was you, my good friends that helped me to get here today.
“Stephen Hoover”- your glib reference to my mere 2500 posts as “peanuts” was the catalyst that propelled me to reach this zenith in my quest for posting excellence. “Scotty“, with your nipping at my heels with you near 2000th post ( a puny 2000 I might add), fanned the flames of urgency to post things even though I had nothing whatsoever to post. Pressing on, you impatient "Hurry up!" challenged me to drag this out for all its worth. But post I did… if for no other reason than to reach this point in my AFF posting career. Renda, though I am famished, it was your visions of “sweet tater casserole” that gave me the strength to carry on…. To reach my goal, and to achieve this well deserved award I have bestowed on myself.
And what a career it has been. I have posted thru the darkness of night. In the wee morning hours I have posted. Ignored at times? Yes. But, the quest was worth it. I have arrived. I have neglected chores, missed meals, and have been late for work on more than one occasion because of my effort to finally, and at long last, join the 2500 Club.
With this post, I am one of you.- the proud, the long winded, the AFF posting elite. Now… a new quest begins. A new and exciting task is will be undertaken. I resolve, with this post to make it all the way to 3000. The journey to reach that lofty perch will have been arduous. But then, as now, I will have you…. The little people… to thank for yet another milestone on my AFF journey. Thank you all. God bless AFF. And God bless the United States of America. (And Canada, too. Didn’t wanna leave Bro. Ron out)
