There is nothing wrong with driving with a gun.

There is something wrong with shooting the gun in an unlawfull manner.

It is also possible to drive WITH a gun, and never use it unlawfully.

It's illegal to drive with a loaded weapon in many states. I think it is also considered illegal to carry it in the car and or not in some sort of transport case.

However, shooting someone? That can certainly be arguable as an intent to kill.

Look at it like this, if a person runs another off the road and they die as a result, they would most likely be charged with manslaughter.

If a person were to shoot another and they died, it would be second or first degree murder.

Obviously neither is right, but I think one is a much worse crime.
Legally the shooting might be attempted murder or assault with a deadly weapon.

Legally the driving might be seen as assault with a deadly weapon if done intentionally or but if not intentional it's just going to be reckless driving or may be reckless endangerment? I wonder if Newman is around

meBNme,

What I was saying is that it was wrong for the shooter to shoot the driver, but I understand how he could have made the decision to do it.

I have not been contradictory.

I do in fact. BUT ONLY A CRIMINAL would illegally shoot that firearm.
I disagree.

Some times, good people make very bad decisions. I do not consider every law breaker to be a "CRIMINAL".

It's also insulting to veterans to insinuate veterans cannot controll themselves enough to refrain from committing a felony over a mere nuisance.

It is equally insulting to ignore the fact that some war veterans have a difficult time adjusting to civilian life. This is a well documented fact. There are some municipalities that have special trials and give special consideration for war veterans who become law breakers to help rehabilitate them, instead of "throwing the book" at them.

If he is caught, he is looking at attempted murder charges and it will be extremely difficult for him to beat those charges, imo.

This makes me sick to my stomach. Someone drives him off the road and the demonized shooter (who may actually be some kid's Elementary School teacher having a very bad day) will now suffer because of his response to someone else's wrong doing.

I liken this whole situation to sin.

There are folks who have been wronged, deeply wronged, in life. To deal with life's improprieties, they sink into a life of self-destructive sin.

Unless they repent, they have the misfortune of being wronged in this life, suffering more in this life in part by their own bad decisions, and THEN when they die, their sins bring eternal judgment to their souls and they suffer forever.

I HATE SIN!!!

(and I really don't like idiot drivers)

What the driver did not know is that one of "Chuck County's Finest" was ahead of me about 50 feet.

The driver passed me, kept his high rate of speed and then tried to slow down once he realized he was coming up on a Cop.

The driver turned off the road into a little housing development and the Cop was right behind him.

I laughed!

When I said that the "victim" probably got what he had coming to him, I said that with the premise that most inconsiderate drivers drive stupidly every time they get behind the wheel.

The driver might have made a bad decision and misjudged the distance and speed of oncoming traffic. You assumed the driver was inconsiderate and does it all the time, yet speculated that the gunman was "probably" an all around good citizen that just happens to carry a loaded piece in his car. Did I sum that up about right?
