From the news story:
Quote:
|
Although church leaders declined to elaborate, the statement went on to say: "the action of child molestation and abuse is a violation of God's law and man's law. We do not condone, excuse, cover up or tolerate in any way shape or form these actions by anyone, whether a member or officer of this church corporation. Violators will be dealt with expeditiously without regard to who they are, as according to the Scripture."

Out of the choir, sit on the front row, and cry at the altar every service for 2 years.

Re: Deputies arrest ex-pastor
Of course he pled not guilty.
His attorney should be disbarred, drawn and quartered at this point in the proceeding by pleading anything else.

This is also such a sad ordeal for the good church members who will have to bare a lot of shame especially in a small town.
How does a church regain its respect in a community with this horrible story attached to the church.
How do the members ever regain their trust?

My concern in these situations are who and for how long did anyone know of these tendencies?
THere most likely someone who knew...

In a lot of cases even if a child tells, they are not believed. And one of the main reasons this goes on for long periods of time. And by that time, the statute of limitations run out, so they are not prosecuted for those.

I think he should have his day in court and justice should be done!
Do I make myself perfectly clear as to where I stand??? I tend to agree with a friend who was called for jury duty on a child molestation case - when questioned by the DA, this man calmly stated:
"Sir, I personally think someone who does such a thing to a child should be strung up by their toes and shot at daylight...."
Needless to say - this man was quickly dismissed from the jury pool. Have to say, I think he made a great point.
NOW THAT WE HAVE THAT CLEARED UP......
I still think that to post it on an "apostolic forum" as it was done here is:
1) malicious
2) unnecessary
3) unkind
4) unChristlike
The fact is that it is pure, unadulterated, old-fashioned gossip to be posted in the manner that it was posted. We're not talking just about this man - you are dragging his family through it as well - and heaven knows they don't deserve that!

This is not a "He that is without sin, let him cast the first stone. Kind of Moment".
This is a "If you hirt one of these, it is better that a Millstone be tied around your neck, Kind of moment".
That is the headline Christ would have written in the morning paper...
