Re: AFF Badge of Honor

I make no claim to righteousness and holiness, because I adhere to some set of standards, but only because of what Jesus did on the cross.

When He took my judgment, God made me righteous. That's the only basis I have for righteousness and true holiness.

Those who think that they are made holy because they are practicing a set of holiness standards are self-righteous and legalistic.

And they don't believe "the Gospel of Jesus Christ". Therefore they are probably not saved.

That's a pretty strong statement.
In my opinion there are lots of people who "follow the rules" because they think it is necessary to stay saved, but I wouldn't say that they are self-righteous and legalistic. They are just doing what they think they have to do and trying to live for God.

I think you're right, Jim, in some cases. However, believing in the finished work of Jesus is so essential and fundamental to salvation, that it can't be overlooked or skimmed over lightly.

By definition, anyone who is relying on his or her own efforts and works to be saved, is "selfrighteous."
