Basically, you can do it however you want - there's not a right or wrong way....be creative.
We've had a Christmas service before where we had candles and oil lamps lighted, but also had the the lights on the ceiling fans in the sanctuary turned on, but not the main lights.
Have done communion somewhat similar to that too.
