Remember when the technician would come to school and check our instruments and fix them for free - replacing corks, pads, etc? They don't do that anymore!

Did you do the contests, where you went on the bus to another town and performed in solo contests? Or sometimes in trios? I still have all my ribbons from those. I loved band! I was in it from 4th grade all the way through high school. And yes, I wore the uniform, pants and all, even though we were in UPC. My folks didn't enforce some of the rules. I guess they figured if someone was going to lust after me and my sister in that awful band uniform, someone had more problems than we did!
