Re: Will you join the UPC NOW ????
Honest question. What is the upside to being part of the UPC or any other large affiliation? The only thing I can think of is for financial backing if you are starting a new church.

Well, I don't believe in the UPCs teaching on uncut hair, makeup or jewlery. I think if the women want to do/have those things it's fine in moderation. For brothers, the only thing there is jewlery that would matter, and that'd just be in the form of a wedding ring, and I've got no problem with wedding rings, as half (probably just a third now) of the UPC would. Pastoral authority needs to be reconsidered in the UPC, where pastors need to use multiple elderships to run a congregation according to the NT, instead of the UPC-pastor dictatorship that is going on. There are a few other things that I'm left of the UPC on. I'm right of the UPC when it comes to families and how they should be structured and run and how children should be homeschooled. I also don't believe women should be teaching in mixed crowds, and I think the effects of the media are often harmful to GOD's people. The women at my assembly probably look like fundi-Baptists, and with the large families we have (which is even dying out in UPC churches these days) we look even more "Baptist"-like... The UPC needs to die.

Hmmmm , interesting question. Being only a saint and not in the leadership I can't testify to what the advantages are for them. In general I would say just the connection of a body of Christ, fellowship. I have heard it also said that Missionary work is tough going without the backing of an org. We do have pretty good resources available and it is easier to "create" our own resources as a body.

I can see most of that. Particularly the missionary support. Though I think much of that could be accomplished via a collection of independent supporters. The global fellowship aspect would be less important to me. My local fellowship is extremely valuable to me, however.

This is something else I have not seen (and gladly so), our church has a group of elders, the pastor preaches whats given him from God but as far as everything else in the church it is equally decided.
It would be hard to homeschool every child, some parents need to work. We do have an attached Christian school, but again, this cost money to run and some can not afford it. I would love to see all of our children out of the private school, just not sure thats something under the orgs control.
