Thanks for the info! I ran a search on Roy Gerald, and it looks as though the church was in the UPC at one time: The 80's were a time of shaping for the church. Even though we were grateful for our heritage, there were substantive disagreements with the doctrinal stance of the affiliated denomination. These centered on our belief that Christians are saved by grace through faith. Our emphasis of a biblical understanding of grace resulted in our eventual separation from that denomination. Although our paths have diverged, we are still very mindful of the great contribution this denomination made to who we are today. Source
I really enjoyed the church, and it certainly looked as though they stressed the importance of baptism and Spirit infilling, even if they believe it is an experience subsequent to salvation. I was just curious about the background of the church...I didn't realize it had UPC connections. Did Roy Gerald leave in '92 or before?
