Just for the flip side though PO, that same conversation gets old when someone suggests because you don't see anything wrong with that you are backslidden.

There just needs to be mutual respect.
I have been saying that since I came aboard!
I do try & practice it & some days I am successful.

Yes, Ma'am - YOU ARE CORRECT!!!!! It's mutual respect we are missing and why the conversations go the way they do!!!! I wish we could change that!!!!

I love discussing anything I am knowledgeable about - and some things I'm not. LOL

It gets all wadded up when we are condescending and rude to each other and to each other's strong held beliefs!

I take the opinion that I'm backslidden the exact same as someone's opinion that I believe the heresy of Jesus name baptism, therefore I am lost!

I am secure in what I believe, so both are like water off a duck's back!

It's been said that we respect those that stand for what they believe. Did you not respect him for standing for what he believed when he said you were lost? I would expect nothing less.

How he said it would be my issue - not what he believed.

Is there a nice way to say a group is a cult, preaching heresy, false doctrine?
Of course I did because I understand where they are coming from and the MAIN reason it wasn't an issue with me is because it doesn't matter what someone here thinks. That's my point.

I have no problem with someone's belief system viewing another person's belief or lifestyle as backslidden. I have issue with how they put out that view.

The reason is - if they are strong on what they believe, then I want them to stand with it. I just don't want that belief shoved down my throat.

Let's take Brother Epley for example. We respect him for not wavering in what he believes. What we do have issue with, at times, is how he expresses his beliefs.

I don't want to shove what I believe down someone's throat. I don't believe I have ever done that. But, hey, I'm only writing and not always reading - maybe I have come across that way myself!!

I am gonna get banned but here goes,

In the rules, it clearly states different viewpoints are welcome but attitudes are not.

That is what the real core debate that PO is stating.

Why is that?

I do understand your point and I know you are standing where you believe you need to be standing in what you believe. I respect that.

I respect that on both sides.

What I don't respect is either side taking potshots - "you're gonna burn" and "your'e a cult". Both are wrong. We can only digress from there.

As I know where I stand, it would still bother me - not because it shakes my beliefs, it's just sooooooooo hateful and rude!! Those are the discussions that make me feel ill.
