I see this happening 9 times out of 10. I'd love to experiment with it sometimes if I could. I bet the same thing could be said by two different people and taken differently because of who said it and not what was being said. Make sense?

That, my dear lady, is often the problem. I'll give an example of too much familiarity that happened to me today, so..today I was at work and we have a little girl (18) that goes to our church and she needed some money to buy scrubs for work. She starts at the hospital Monday and she's really struggling money wise and asked if she could borrow some money to get her some tops and of course, I said sure. Come by work and I'll give you a check. She did and her boyfriend brought her and he just had surgery on his knee on WEDNESDAY. We had a snow blow in Wed night and so our parking lot at work is still pretty slick because the sun doesn't hit that side for long. Anyway, I looked out there and he has a german shepherd/wolf mix that is big and he was out on the parking lot leaning up against his truck without his crutches and I said, "The little dummy, he's out there with out his crutches" (the "little dummy" is 6'5") and this young lady turns around and says " DUMMY, he's leaned up against the truck." The lady I work with just sat there with her mouth opened. She doesn't attend our church or anything and she was appalled and aggrivated that she would talk to me in such a fashion, especially considering I was loaning her money.
Familiarity often breeds contempt. We become so used to someone that we don't look at them with the proper amount of respect. (I'm not "playing the status card here. Here I am LadyCoonskinner, a person. Yes, my husband pastors but that's not the point here)
Whatever our position in life, we need to RESPECT others. I believe the Bible says, do unto others as you would have them do unto you.

Paul said that if even an angel from heaven preached any other doctrine than HE preached, let that man be accursed.
ANd, I'm not throwing dirt - just stating my opinion.

I never said that you were, I just hoped that we could refrain from that.
You see, a lot of those things we could be wrong, I could be wrong.
Therefore, I try to respect other views.
However, I still see Acts 2:38 Salvation & one God in the Bible so that isn't negotiable for me!

That was different!!
I didn't know what he was GETTING at. I was going in one direction and he in another. Oh Lord! I just thought that's what we do!!!!
Anyway, seriously, I didn't realize where he was going in his questioning. He has a very valid point! What do we do?

Look, I"m not going to argue about this. You have your opinion, I have mine and the mere discussion of the problem is headed down the very same path that the issues themselves head down.
I say that it's ridiculous to say someone is going to hell for facial hair, you say if they truly believe that, we should respect their opinion.
I ask, how far should we go with that?
And, we're polarized.
When someone is on the liberal side, they're falling away from the doctrine. When they're on the ridiculously conservative side, we're supposed to put our stamp of approval on their non-Biblical views.
That's where I'm coming from - let's keep it fair on both sides.

Sorry, the "well goodness" in your previous post seemed like sarcasm to me.
Here's where I think we stop it.
Post what you believe, and let the chips fall where they may.
If we would all stop getting offended, on BOTH sides of the fence, and let it roll off, we'd have a lot less problem, in my opinion.
It kind of reminds me of hockey - there was a time when hockey players would fight, and the refs would let them duke it out until they fell on the ice, lol. Now, if they look at each other cross eyed, the refs are getting between them!
Most of us can work it out, even when we fight, we just need to get our feelings off of our sleeves - MYSELF INCLUDED!

Re: JP Don't Forget
Michael - I think you've nailed it now - along with Mr. Steinway - - let it fall off you like water on a duck's back.
I believe the respect issue needs to be there, but honestly, there does seem to be some feelings a little too tweaked lately.

And we have serious injuries, some disabling & one recently where a 16 year old died.
I think there is a difference in verbal jousting & drawing blood.
That is JMHO & I know others don't share it & that's fine, I could be wrong.
