After I got into the church people assumed that I knew better but for the most part I didn't have much of a clue. It was years and years after I got into the church that I began to understand some of those things.
My Mom was raised pretty well. Catholic. Definately liberal compared to UPC standards. My Dad's life was pretty rough. My grandmother was raised by her grandparents in a bar/resort. Her mother was alive but not responsible. My grandmother was raped when she was 16 and my Dad was born. Then, she married the man who adopted my Dad. They divorced years later when my grandpa had an affair and physically abused my aunt. My Dad was a very angry and emotionally unavailable man. My mom is a sweetheart.
Okay, now you know more than you ever wanted to know.
