So could eye makeup play into this? Like what's the purpose of eye makeup? To bring attention to the eyes, right? Why do they eyes have to be painted to look at people?

All I know is that verse does not say eye makeup

Re: Cosmetics???

Good grief. I wear a little eyeliner, a soft eye shadow, and mascara. It makes my eyes look bigger and brighter. The same reason people whiten their teeth or curl their hair - to look better. There's nothing wrong with trying to look better! Some of us weren't born with all natural beauty!

I don't look like a hussy, or have the Jan Crouch/Tammy Faye look. There is moderation in all things. I just look like a normal woman, and I think God is pleased. I don't draw attention to myself.

My ears are not pierced; I just can't do it - it's a personal conviction. But I do wear earrings that clip on.

I think that's a good point. God was very specific and detailed in the law, so I have trouble believing that we need to add anything to it. I think He covered all the stuff that was important to HIM!!!

And a lot of that detailed law is no longer necessary for the NT church! I am a Gentile Christian!

I've never worn heavy make-up, and if you'd asked me 5 years ago, I would have said NO ONE needs it! LOL!!! But as I get older, I see that maybe I DO need a little bit. Oh, those dratted dark circles under my eyes in the morning!

I still talk to our girls about how they don't need to subscribe to a worldly ideal of beauty--they are fine just as they are. And I point out what looks ridiculous and immodest (because some looks draw undue attention to oneself). But at the same time--both of them are getting braces next year, so how is that all that different? It's purely a cosmetic procedure.

My daughter will soon be starting about 3200 duckies worth of work on her crossbite. I said it jokingly, but I said she doesn't need it teeth are to eat with. But we do it for looks alone.

I guess it's like preaching against doctors while wearing glasses.

There are a lot of things that God left out of the law that we've added in.... made our own laws.
