Cosmetics have been used for thousands of years, and there's not a shred of scripture that ever condemned it as being wrong.

But you refer to cosmetics as being a traditon someone started?

But you dont wish to consider that the "no cosmetics" thing is a tradition that got started by conservative preachers at the beginning of the Holiness movement?

Dont allow yourself to be so short-sighted, my brother. Use the Word of God as your guide and you'll be fine.

(And keep in mind that some of those same preachers also used to preach hard against open-toed shoes, and wearing red --- also with no biblical backing. So tell us...do you believe we should teach against those too? )

Scriptures for cosmetics?

I am also waiting.

Remember I have delivered babies and they were not only naked but had clean skin. The onus is on the paint users to tell us why body painting started and why it is necessary.

I expect people that are so gung ho on body paint must have a reason for their faith.

Having confirmed that we are born un painted, we study these issues in some higher level Psych classes along with other topics of human sexuality. It was fun setting up experiments with pictures and having respondents reactions recorded. Most paint users are extremely shallow and mimick the paint styles of celebrities and idols. For example, if they think Britney Spears (a baptist) has more appeal, they will dress like her and copy her painting methodologies. Again is to activate or appeal to the lust of the eyes as noted in an earlier scriptural reference.
When we study painitings in the egyptian tombs, paint patterns and adornment are used to stratify social status and rank.

You are all shallow and easy to read. We even have studies on body shapes and profiles. we can study the pics of appealiojng women in an island using males that have never seen tv and after they have had tv reception and watched some shows, they start finiding less chunky women attractive. Preferences are environmentally shaped. I notice one poster wants scripture. we have several verses but in analysing their motives, they want scripture for purposes of self justification. The Martin luther troops wrote the book on that.

the shallow folks that demand scripture explictely against max factor or some other label actually are using 5th Avenue and the culture as their basis of scriptural interpretation. Remember the Lutherans used the same justification template to defend their sacred beer.

You all entertain me.

How do you sell Eskimo or other secluded cultures on how to successfully acquire and apply paint?

Remember most of the world doesn't know Tammy Faye Baker

Funny. I'm one who requested scripture, and I don't even wear makeup.

(I'll bet those newborn babies didn't wear deodorant, either)

Good point. The odor of sweat is more distinctive at the onset of puberty.
