Thank you. I see I won't be using ESV as a major reading source. I came back to edit this as it sounds a bit harsh. What I'm wanting to say is that taking away the beauty and deeper meaning of "purification" to "cosmetics" is something I would not be happy with in a Bible translation.

As I said the idea of purification lends its meaning to "scouring". The only conclusion we can draw, which would be correct, is that the word "cosmetic" in the ESV would be on the same lines as toiletries. That would be items used in personal grooming.

I think it would be a stretch to the context to say it implies facial paint in any way, JMO.

Thanks for your co-operation, brothers.

When your apologetics crash, Change the subject,

You are ungodly insult to the religion i was raised in. Very crude and deliberately unchristlike. I was raised as a Mennonite. We of course had our relatives come from Russia to this continents. Mennonites started many colleges and a few universities. many were modest and not into jewelry narcotics smoking etc.

When you have no scripture for your worldliness, we did not fellowship with the world. No tattoos, none of the divorce mess etc. Even Muslims associate Christianity with unbridled lasciviousness and worldliness.

Go start a thread for each item of jewelry. have at it. Just getting obnozious when we ask for the word about jewelry doesn't cut it.

Of course this bothers me little personally. I am extremely clear about the behavioral motives behind cosmetics and the cosmetics industry. I know there will be lame attempts to justify it but they still boil down to being owned by the world and peddled for the desires of the flesh. The mess comes straight out of Egypt and 5th avenue knows it.

Wrong gods.

The Holy ghost is 24/7. They that worship Him must worship Him in Spirit and in truth.
That is why the counterfeit religions brag aboot their symmetry and fine tune their idolatry.

Oh the "safely assume" Pretty pathetic kiddo.

The "safely assume" apologetics are the road to self justification.

If you are an Egyptian, and think like them that explains why you agree with them.

Too bad the bad guy in Esther knew she was different.

Still no verses on cosmetics for Christians? I am sure you will blow a gasket when I start a thread asking about narcotics being ok for Christians. Nose rings? Jewelry is ok or it isn't.

Show me the scripture for make up.

I usually don't respond to childish questions that are repeated time and again.

I take it you are limited in schooling. ACTUALLY IF YOU HAD BIBLE SCHOOL OR COLLEGE, YOU AMY FIGURE OUT THAT cosmetics and drugs were from a word Pharmacia. It is sometimes translated as witchcraft. Practioners of witchcraft made potions, cosmetics and medicines.

That is why they paint their faces for the wild dances and witch activities in the 3rd world. It is false religions.

There are no scriptures for makeup. Now your turn, where are the scriptures against makeup?

Do you take prescription drugs? Tylenol? TUMs? etc....

Is your position that if something is not written for something then we shouldn't do it?
