We have. it is for a houghty pridefuiul look.
2 rules. Do not use the scripture to directly discuss words that were not even first used when scripture was written. To get around that, study the related behaviors.
Rule #2. If scripture apppears to be a little vague, don't disregard your makeing major assumptions. For years gays insist thee is no reference to homosexuality in the bible. No kidding. The word was first used or invented only recently. The word sodomites is still there.
Now to the topic and not mere study methods.
Logic.
1. cosmetics in a line item in retail are named as HBA or health and Beauty aids. what are we talking here
Perfumes are mentioned. Eye salve is mentioned. I am unwilling to accept (assume)it was colored and used for appearance.
Lotions?
Lipstick?
The alabaster box was a womans annual income in value. It is logical that since we also find most except for royalty and a few, were to poor to use it.
You all even assume all could afford it in addition to it's common usage.
Obama's bro in kenya lives on a dollar a day. Tell us what part of that is aftershave. cologne, gel and razors.
I can go down the list and break out assumptions the cosmetics advocates expect me to accept. I can't google any better than you can and do not see it. I do read it was common in egypt for the wealthy.
I also do not forget the women oft covered their faces. If this was for modesty, it demands a massive leap that they would not only not cover their faces but paint them up.
If you argue all these decorations, then go ahead and argue the culture did not use various head and face coverings.
All we have for make up is every body is doing it. Is that how the emerging modern church operates?
