I just don't get how someone can feel comfortable owning one of those!

If you read the FINE PRINT, weapons that are categorized as "assault" rifles also includes plain ole hunting rifles that just happen to be SEMI automatic.

Some people say that semi-autos aren't a must for hunting and don't see why hunters would care if they can't have them.

As a deer hunter, I can give some reasons why we want them. Number one reason - Its our choice! Number two reason - semi automatics kick less than other actions. They are often preferred by women, young people, and/or people with upper body injuries or handicaps.

My uncle bought a semi-auto for hunting after having open heart surgery.

It doesn't underscore a lack of faith...

If owning a gun is lack of faith then is hunting a lack of faith?
Then is owning a rod & reel a lack of faith?
Is owning a shovel, a hoe & a rake a lack of faith?

If a dog shows up and attacks my chickens... is my running out there with my pistol a lack of faith? That dog better get some faith in his little doggy god because he is about to bite the big one... and I say that in faith.

That whole line of thinking is nonsensical to the core and born out of a feeling that others peoples rights are ours to control.

Plus... don't forget the big one... they have the right of the law abiding citizen to do so (or was... it is going away fast) and, therefore, (pardon my grammar) it ain't nobody's bidness... nobody's... at all... none... ever...

Indeed... some people like the drive of a Cadillac... it is their right.
Some people like the feel of a Harley Davidson... it is their right.
Some good law abiding citizens like to shoot an automatic rifle... it is their right.

They will have to pry my semi-autos from my cold dead fingers! Especially my Browning 30-06 and my Remington model 742, .243.

I'm honestly wondering if anybody has a problem with this specifically or whether it is the "slippery slope" that they are afraid of...kind of a "greasy gun-control" effect.
Any time the government seeks to limit the power held by the people, we are all affected.

One of the major reasons the framers had for including the right to bare arms, was this becomes a deterrient to goverrnment expansion on freedom.
