Re: Road Rage causes death...

This story reinforces why I don't respond to idiots on the road with gestures, yelling, horn, etc.

You never know what kind of drug addled or drunk or psycho person you are dealing with who will try to kill you at the least provocation.

I remember seeing a news magazine show a couple of years ago about a regular housewife / mom in Alabama or Arkansas who got mad at another woman motorist and in a fit of road rage ran her off a highway and killed her. Ruined both family's lives. I just can't imagine traffic making me that angry.

"We did not wear uniforms. The lady workers dressed in the current fashions of the day, ...silks...satins...jewels or whatever they happened to possess. They were very smartly turned out, so that they made an impressive appearance on the streets where a large part of our work was conducted in the early years.

"It was not until long after, when former Holiness preachers had become part of us, that strict plainness of dress began to be taught.

"Although Entire Sanctification was preached at the beginning of the Movement, it was from a Wesleyan viewpoint, and had in it very little of the later Holiness Movement characteristics. Nothing was ever said about apparel, for everyone was so taken up with the Lord that mode of dress seemingly never occurred to any of us."

I agree!

Some folks are just waiting for an opportunity to show their temper. I just look at folks and smile.

Re: Road Rage causes death...

I was heading to Chicago two weekends ago and was going quite fast (yes, a shock to those who know me!) and there were a few other vehicles who were traveling with me.

The lead car was a Rav4 with a young girl in it (I don't mind someone else being the lead car....most of the time!) and the four cars were traveling well together. But there was a problem with the lead car....when there was a cop traveling in the southbound lane, she'd slam on her brakes. I'm thinking, HELLO!! If he was clocking you, he'd have you already, considering that the cop was RIGHT THERE!!

So I'd pass her as would the other vehicles, but soon she'd be back in the lead. Not a problem...except she did that same thing again...twice. Now, I'm not one who flips people off or anything, but I told my daughter, who has her permit, to NEVER slam on her brakes on the interstate just because she sees a cop.

After the third or fourth time, this chick passes me on the right, and my daughter informs me that she gave me 'the finger'. I start laughing because if anyone deserved that, it would be her. So I told my daughter that if I passed her again, I'd blow her kisses cause that would probably tick her off more than my reciprocation of the finger.

Sadly, that opportunity never came. I had to exit after drinking too much coffee, but told my daughter that if I later saw her pulled over, I'd slow down, wave, honk, and throw confetti!

I never saw her pulled over, but one of the cars traveling with us was!

LCS, sorry to hear this about your family. I hope that when all is said and done, he serves time and healings take place.

Re: Road Rage causes death...

I'm sorry for your relative's accident. So many dangerous, angry people on the roads!

I had a guy riding my bumper trying to force me over the speed limit a couple of months ago. I refused to cooperate. I never speed because if I do anything wrong I always get caught. Sooooo, I obey the law and if I do something wrong I tell on myself - because I know I'll probably get caught anyway. LOL!

He pulled up beside me and I turned my head and stuck my tongue out at him!

When he pulled ahead of me I burst out laughing. I don't think I've done that since I was a child.

If I was involved in that situation and God didn't intervene, my 40 Glock sure would!

I had a couple of guys trying to race me when I was driving to San Antonio in my Camero. I was 21 years old. I had just bought a .38 in Houston. I told my sister to hand me the gun I had under the passengers seat. It wasn't loaded, but I pointed it at the other car. You can guess that they lit out of there as fast as they could. Today, I wouldn't have gotten away with that. They probably would have shot back!
