Exd 30:14 Every one that passeth among them that are numbered, from twenty years old and above, shall give an offering unto the LORD.
Exd 30:15 The rich shall not give more, and the poor shall not give less than half a shekel, when [they] give an offering unto the LORD, to make an atonement for your souls.
He stated that the shekel of the sanctuary represented the tithe, and so therefore half of the tithe (an half shekel) should be given as an offering.

Geez, who in the world gives that little?

Oh where, oh where could our CrankyYankee be?
Oh where, oh where could he/she be?
Yep... drive by. I think I know who it is, though. I'll give him a call.
Pelathias, I have the LL notes you wanted. PM me and I'll be sure to send them to you.

Okay, where did you get that amount from? Btw, I also heard that if one was late in paying a tithe, then the amount was double. What sayest thou?

It would probably depend on how much the heat bill was that month.

Yes, I have heard the "double owed" if the original tithes were not paid as well. In fact, it always went hand in hand with the 10+5 teaching.
Clearly Al Capone has left his mark in some churches!

It wouldn't be sad if it weren't true. But it is sad because it is true. Not across the whole spectrum, but there are definitely pockets of it in our circles.
