Re: The Scriptures Messianic Bible ?

Here's the dedication Michael referred to. Hey! It's "Prince, Iames" not "King James." What else have we been missing?

Well, the one I have is a replica.
It is in a hardback cover which reads

The
Holy
Bible

1611 EDITION

King James Version

So it has a "J" on the cover.

Inside it says it is a word-for-word reprint of the
First Edition of the Authorized Version
presented in roman letters
for easy reading and
comparison with subsequent editions.

It is
by Thomas Nelson Publishers

Inside it starts out with:
TO THE MOST
HIGH AND MIGHTIE
Prince, IAMES by the grace of God
King of Great Britaine, France and Ireland,
Defender of the Faith, &c.
THE TRANSLATORS OF THE BIBLE,
with Grace, Mercie, and Peace,
through IESVS CHRIST our LORD.

Hey, I'm old,
just about the oldest one in this group.

Anyhoo, why all this talk about King James?
Wasn't he a pervert? Would you read a Bible named after him?
Didn't the REAL Protestants use the Geneva Bible which was older?
and was translated in Geneva where the Prods had to flee from Bloody Mary?
I have a (new) edition of the 1599 edition of the Geneva Bible.
It's in modern print (kinda small for my trifocals) and it has the letter "J"; it doesn't add that extra "e" at the end of words; it uses the letters "u" and "v" the way we are used to seeing them used; it spells "lion" without a "y" (lyon appears some places in the old KJV); it includes the verses the JW's, modernists, and all those other bad guys took out (like Matthew 17:21; Mark 16:9-20; John 5:4; the first verses of John chapter 8; Acts 8:37; part of Acts 9:6; 1 John 5:7)

I'm old enough to remember the Revised Standard Version and the furor it created by not calling Mary a virgin in Isaiah chapter 7 and by dropping certain verses. One fundamentalist (funny mentalist) preacher publicly threw it in a tub of lye. One took a blowtorch to it and said, "It's like the devil, it doesn't burn easy."

Re: The Scriptures Messianic Bible ?

are you referring to Ieosus?. It is the greek form of the name Jesus, which is the enlish form of yeshua. Some have tried to discredit the name of Jesus with this greek name.

Reference the following signature:

(Just as a reminder, the reference to the "holy language" is Hebrew.)
