Joh 11:1 Now a certain man was sick, named Lazarus, of Bethany, the town of Mary and her sister Martha.
Joh 11:2 (It was that Mary which anointed the Lord with ointment, and wiped his feet with her hair, whose brother Lazarus was sick.)

Luke 8:2 And certain women, which had been healed of evil spirits and infirmities, Mary called Magdalene, out of whom went seven devils,

Joh 8:3 And the scribes and Pharisees brought unto him a woman taken in adultery; and when they had set her in the midst,
Joh 8:4 They say unto him, Master, this woman was taken in adultery, in the very act.

Luk 7:36 And one of the Pharisees desired him that he would eat with him. And he went into the Pharisee's house, and sat down to meat.
Luk 7:37 And, behold, a woman in the city, which was a sinner, when she knew that Jesus sat at meat in the Pharisee's house, brought an alabaster box of ointment,
Luk 7:38 And stood at his feet behind him weeping, and began to wash his feet with tears, and did wipe them with the hairs of her head, and kissed his feet, and anointed them with the ointment.
Luk 7:39 Now when the Pharisee which had bidden him saw it, he spake within himself, saying, This man, if he were a prophet, would have known who and what manner of woman this is that toucheth him: for she is a sinner.

1. There was the Mary, sister to Martha and Lazarus, who anointed Jesus' feet. (John 11:1-2)

2. And there was Mary Magdalene, out of whom Jesus cast devils. (Luke 8:2)

3. Then there was the adulterous woman. (John 8:3-4)

4. And another woman who anointed Jesus' feet at the Pharisee's house. (She could have been the same as the adulterous woman, or Mary Magdalene, but she was probably not Mary, sister to Martha.) (Luke 7:36-39)

There were two events in which a woman anointed Jesus' feet, because at one event they were at Mary & Martha's house, after Lazarus had been raised from the dead, and at the other event he was at a Pharisee's house, and it says a "woman in the city." At the second event, Judas complained about the cost. At the first event, the complaint was that Jesus allowed a sinner woman to touch His feet.

That being said, if it is a play on Jesus & the Bible, you would want it to be based on fact & truth!

I think you are right.
That's what bugs me! It's a reflection on me and my costume design. I want to be accurate. I'm sure it's really no big deal, but it just bugs me.

Was Lazarus a Pharisee? I didn't check. I was just thinking if the story is in two Gospels, it could be speaking of the same event. Some Gospels bear out a little more information than others even though speaking of the same event.
