We had a wardrobe malfunction on Easter, once. Not kidding. Mary, at the tomb, lost part of her skirt/robe thing. Behind her. Didn't notice. She was escorted off the stage, where she fell apart when she found out.
Sadly, the video tape was erased, so no $10,000 on AFHV! (She would have given permission, after she got over it. )

You are reminding me of when I was modeling in a fashion show in High School. We were doing "period costumes". I think mine was during the 30's. I had on a long, draped black coat. I was supposed to take it off using one hand and slowy turn and walk back down the catwalk. Welllll, the lining of the coat got caught on my fingernail and I couldn't get the coat off. I was supposed to sling it over my shoulder! I walked, dragging it behind me. I made it look very dramatic so no one would be the wiser.
I'm in charge of sewing and preparing the costumes for our Easter program. I've been doing costumes for years and I have a question. The Director and I are not arguing, just discussing, for the record.
Background:
I like to be historically accurate when I prepare a costume. The play is a narration, some script and a musical.
We have one part where the women, taken in adultery, is thrown at Jesus' feet.
Problem:
The Director wants me to shorten the women's sleeves because she wants her to have bling, bling showing on her wrists. I don't have a problem with that, but I'm not in agreement with the shortened sleeves. In John 8:3 the Scribes and Pharisees bring her to Jesus quoting Moses's law - that bears out that she is a Hebrew. She is saying that this is Mary Magdelene in Luke 8:2 and I don't believe it is the same woman. I don't think just because she committed adultery that she was a Hoochie Mama. LOL! I think she would dress as the Hebrews dressed. I don't see her as adopting the dress of the Romans or Greeks, per se.
So, would you shorten the sleeves or leave them long? I have to do what the Director wants, but this just bugs me!

First that Jesus appeared to after His resurrection.

Most plays, dramas, movies, etc, based on history are regarded as Historical fiction.
That being said, if it is a play on Jesus & the Bible, you would want it to be based on fact & truth!
