Better watch it Bub! The Director is my daughter!!!
And no, she doesn't have that mindset about the jewelry. She just wants her costume to have more to it than the Jewish costumes, being they are not all out there and colorful. I see her point on that - BUT - the lady at the feet of Jesus is a Jew and her SLEEVES NEED TO BE LONG!!!! It just isn't right to change that!!!!

PO, if the director is your daughter, then you should just do what she says and get over it!
My mother would be tempted to say no just because her daughter isn't supposed to be bossing her around!!!! That's not where your head is...is it?
I still agree that there's no need for short sleeves. Why not compromise and have long sleeves with a slit in the top center so that when she moves her arms you see a little skin? Maybe, being the adulterous woman that she was, she fashioned it that way herself, to give the boys a little thrill. Used her husband's hunting knife, no doubt, to rip out the peephole.

I have the gowns here and am going to cut them today.
I am over it with her, Abigail!! Is it too much to ask that I could get a little sympathy from you guys? Please!!!!!
I love the idea of the slit!!!!! Only thing is, when she has something in her mind, you are not going to change that!!!! Lord, she reminds me of somebody I know!!!!!! Who is it?
Didn't we agree that there is no proof that this women committed adultery more than once? I think we are giving her a bad rap. Maybe that was Jesus' point, by writing in the sand, and forgiving her. Maybe He was showing the Pharisees their relentless way of not forgiving - even a one time offense, when they had things in their own lives as well.
I know He would have forgiven her anyway, but maybe in this instance she wasn't like the woman at the well. He did address her having previous husbands and the present one she was living with.
But, the woman at His feet, it's like he knew that she had never done this thing before and probably wouldn't do it again. Anyway, just some random thoughts.

Yes! I agree! LOL!!!!!! I should of said to give The Boy a thrill, rather than "the boys."

Re: Costume dispute!!!!
Okay!!! We have reached an agreement and using both Renda and Abigail's ideas!
We are switching costumes. The servant girl to Pontius Pilate will now be wearing the satin green and I will put a slit in the sleeves so her arm bracelets will show.
For the Jewish ( ) adulterous woman we will put an elastic band on her arms to shortened the sleeves, thereby, not messing up this gown for future use. I agree the visual is the main point, but I don't want to mess up the gown to make the point.
We will either find some trim and sew some binding on the back enabling me to run some elastic through it and thus making a "garter" of sorts or we will find some stretchy gold trim that we simply just tack the ends together.
Works for me!!!! Thanks everyone!!!! I am a happy woman!

I went over the accounts placing the women where they belong - women at the well, Mary Magdalene, women anointing Jesus' feet, etc.
She didn't care about the historical significance of the costumes, BUT she did care about portraying the women to be something the Bible didn't say she was.
I believe the scripture bears out that Tamar dressed in the attire of a harlot in the OT. So, there is some significance to the outward appearance here.
She didn't feel it would be right to allow the viewers to have this image of the woman at Jesus' feet, simply because the Bible doesn't bear it out.
Her taking the interpretation of the scriptures seriously blessed me more than getting my way on the correctness of the costume!
