Re: Church searched, Pastor investigated in death
Connie Lawless said they had nothing to do with the girl's abduction.
"She was the sweetest little thing. It breaks it our hearts to think that anyone would take such a tiny little thing and abuse her and murder her," she said.
I wouldn't find her suspicious because of this quote alone. I think most of us naturally assume that in cases like this, abuse happened also.

This is the quote from the Pastors wife that some are questioning ... since investigators haven't stated anything about abuse of this child.

I don't see that as an incriminating statement. Even if the old man is a killer, I'd doubt that his wife was in on it.
The presumption of "abuse" is always out there in a case like this. That's what sickens you the most while the search is still on - that the child is suffering and no one can stop it.
The sheriff said that "everyone" his department has interviewed is a "person of interest..." They also assured the community that they were "getting closer" to resolving the case. Frustrating as it is, we must extend a presumption of innocence while law enforcement does its job.
You can lynch your Baptists later.

Re: Church searched, Pastor investigated in death
I would be really shocked if those Baptist folks had anything to do with this sad situation.
I think it is their Grandson, or someone close to them that may be connected to this heinous crime. Just my gut feeling on this.

Re: Church searched, Pastor investigated in death
Photo of eight-year-old Sandra Cantu. Cantu was last seen March 27, 2009. After days of searching, Cantu's body was found April 6, 2009 in a suitcase. (Tracy Police Department) TRACY, Calif. (AP) - A Sunday school teacher has been arrested and charged with kidnapping and killing a California girl whose body was found in a suitcase.
Tracy Police Sgt. Tony Sheneman says 28-year-old Melissa Huckaby was arrested late Friday night after voluntarily going to police for questioning about the death of 8-year-old Sandra Cantu.
Sandra's body was found inside a suitcase in an irrigation pond on April 6.
Huckaby previously told a local newspaper that Sandra visited her home March 27, the day she disappeared. Huckaby also said she had left her suitcase in the driveway that day, and that it was missing.

Yes, she is...I guess she lived with her grandparents in the same mobile home park where Sandra lived.
How sad!!!

Re: Church searched, Pastor investigated in death
I think the press is doing its typical Christian bashing by constantly referring to this woman as a "Sunday School teacher".
I am sure she is many things other than a Sunday School teacher but of course that is the most sensational way they can describe someone accused of such a horrible murder and they want to sell the story.

"We did not wear uniforms. The lady workers dressed in the current fashions of the day, ...silks...satins...jewels or whatever they happened to possess. They were very smartly turned out, so that they made an impressive appearance on the streets where a large part of our work was conducted in the early years.
"It was not until long after, when former Holiness preachers had become part of us, that strict plainness of dress began to be taught.
"Although Entire Sanctification was preached at the beginning of the Movement, it was from a Wesleyan viewpoint, and had in it very little of the later Holiness Movement characteristics. Nothing was ever said about apparel, for everyone was so taken up with the Lord that mode of dress seemingly never occurred to any of us."

Re: Church searched, Pastor investigated in death
This is very sad ... but from the beginning I had a bad feeling about it.
The question now is ...
Since the grand-daughter lived with the Pastor and wife:
What did they know about their grand-daughters role in the murder?
Were they in any involved in either the murder or with helping the grand-daughter dispose of the body?
I would not at all be surprised if either the Pastor or wife knew about the murder and helped dispose of the body.
