I have to admit to being somewhat of a lactivist. I don't go out of my way to offend, but I do want to show people that breastfeeding is normal, and they shouldn't have to hide.

I nursed through a pregnancy in Florida. I think the world crumbled around some people. They'd literally SPUTTER. Now, my kids were 14 months apart. It's not like my oldest was even all that old when she was born. But the idea of nursing through a pregnancy....oh my. My kids were older when I was pregnant with my third. No one figured out I was tandem nursing while pregnant. Probably better that way.
My kids ended up all being right around 3 when they weaned.

I started out calling it "milkies", so we wouldn't have embarrassing public episodes like I'd heard about.

Oh yes. That was our word of choice too. Given circles we've run in...we probably heard the same embarrassing story. lol

And they feed babies. That might be news.. Unfortunately, a lot of people do grow up in America without really understanding that that's a big part of what they're there for.

And why should men not be allowed to run around naked? Why have we sexualized that part of the male anatomy so much? Unfortunately a lot of americans grow up never realizing what "other" purposes it has.
In fact I always thought it was rather hypocritical for a man to be able to run around in public with no shirt on but our oppressive culture has women covering her milking devices. What sort of backward puritan society do we live in? Next thing you know women will be wearing burkhas.
I for one wish the UPC would get rid of it's old thinking, maybe open up some Pentecostal nudist camps or in the very least allow the ladies to run around pointing at general conferences where we already got rid of that silly facial hair rule
It's all the man's fault for viewing milking devices as something sexual.

I was told that they serve NO purpose other then feeding babies.
