There is no point in sharing anything about the work of the Holy Spirit apart from the baptism of the Holy Spirit because you do not believe there is such a work. Therefore I would be wasting my time.

Those who confine the operation of the Spirit to a baptism experience that the Bible makes clear was for the specific purpose of empowerment and anointing, miss much valuable truth about the role of the Spirit. Empowering the believer is just one role the Spirit has in His relationship with the believer.

I guess its just simpler for some folks to wrap everything up in a tongue talking expereince. Sure makes it easier to dismiss what the Spirit is doing in the lives of thousands of sincere and honest believers around the world every day.

Well, it is kind of a stretch to imagine having an intellectual conversation with someone who wears a weird looking helmet made from tinfoil in a public place like Starbucks!

All you have to do is admit that there are operations of the Spirit apart from the baptism of the Holy Spirit and we have a common ground for further discussion.

No.

The Assemblies of God and some other trinitarian Pentecostal groups make a distinction and refer to the baptism of the Holy Spirit as a second work of grace.

That depends on what you mean by "receive." I think most non-oneness folks would say it happens at repentance. A Calvinist might say that because it is the Spirit that regenerates the spiritually dead sinner so that he will want to be saved, the Spirit is at work in the person's life even before the person gets saved but whether this is the same as receiving the Spirit I don't think the Calvinist would say it is.
