You can say that Michael Jackson has died (of which did not even believe in the same God that WE serve) Farrah Fawcett - the founder of immodest short pants for women can be discussed here yet because a CNN current events thread was started, you get all jumpy? Spare me please......just like a remote for a television, if you dont want to read/see something, dont click on it.
In all honesty, the real reason I posted it was not because of the homosexual theme, I posted it because this so called Pentecostal woman (and her congregants) dont know the first thing about a "deliverance" service. Further more, it was the church who posted it on youtube for all eyes to see. If youtube had existed back in the day when my old church was started out, you would have saw the same thing. An unscriptural form of attempting to make someone get delivered (white sheets??? find me one scripture! Elders chanting the Name of Jesus over and over while an individual rolled on the floor??????? find me one scripture! A woman usurping the authority of a man by telling an entire church to keep quiet and dont speak???? find me one scripture).
The post was for mere discussion sake.
P.S. A simple search of the word gay or homosexual on this message board will bring up plenty of posts.

I think Sam was referring to the people who FIRST posted the video--not your starting of the thread.
Anyway, I think its silly to wrestle with people, trying to cast demons out of them. In scripture, Jesus just commanded the demons to leave, and when the disciples couldn't handle the matter, He told them what the trouble was.
Further, scripture says that casting out devils in the name of Jesus is a sign following those who believe--it doesn't say they shall cast out devils by the sweat of their brow, but simply in the name of Jesus. It also mentions laying hands on the SICK, but says nothing of laying hands on the demon-possessed.
I think this mess came from the Catholic church and physically involved exorcisms, and has NO place in an Apostolic service, or Apostolic ministry.

How many pastors --both men and women--- have a meek and quiet spirit?

I think there could be value to this exercise of faith-- the alleged gay guy was complicit and the Chrisitans were willing to pray for him.
The fact that law enforcement is even considering to get involved irritates me. It's just a matter of time before casting out devils will be outlawed too.

AMEN AND AMEN.
This was totally unwise for this church to post this video on the net. Homosexuality is sinful and from the pit. But doing this with a video is simply unwise.
The man wanted to be delivered, but broadcasting this is silly as well as many things that occurred in the video.

The woman did not know proper English. She said "denominal" instead of "denominational" ( a common error many make) and in the video she said "My homosexuality" had to come out. lol. There's simply too many rednecks out there who cannot talk correctly and are trying to preach and pastor.
She's clearly against "homosexuality", but she actually meant she is not hating the homosexual people.
Also, she probably meant all sinful activities involve spirits to a degree.

Elders and deacons are not instructed to be "quiet", whereas the sisters are instructed in this way. Elders and deacons can also not be sisters...

Whew. I'm glad I'm not a Sister. Cuz I don't do meek and quiet so well.

I honestly HATE the whole "sister" thing. The only time I refer to someone as a "sister" is when speaking of my biological ones -as well as the occasional "elder" woman as a sign of respect.
I'm a little more lenient with the term "brother" because it conveys the term "close fellow member" which is why it used in lodges. "Greetings brothers Kramden and Norton!"

Re: Church Rids Gay Demon??? (Here We Go AGAIN!)
It really wasn't very wise to even record this for a number of reasons. 1. This is evidence that can possibly be used at a later time. 2. What happened to protecting this person's identitiy. He probably didn't want the world to see this. 3. The world doesn't understand spiritual matters.
Next, this pastor could have benefited from a prepared statement by someone other than herself. She wasn't prepared to speak in a fashion that was good for her image on CNN. The press is ruthless enough without giving them the bullets to shoot you with. She really didn't know any better. I found this to be sad.
My pastor doesn't wrestle anyone down on the floor. He lays hands on them and speaks the words. That is what is wise, in my opinion.

Very good words. When wrestling occurs, I have found that true repentance has not occurred. Where repentance is, there is no battle in these instances.
