Much of the issue probably has to do with where we were raised, the ( central ) San Joaquin Valley.
Alright, I said all that to say nothing, really. LoL

Bryan,
I visited a predominately Black church this Sunday morning for services and I felt out of place.
For real!
Maybe I'm racist....

You're likely not a racists, but definitely culturally conditioned. It's too bad we would feel out of place with people different than us. Doesn't mean it doesn't happen or shouldn't happen... just it's too bad.

Last "black church" I went to started a half hour late, lasted for hours and concluded with a "tarryin service"
The tarrying freaked me out as several prayed hard and long till frothy white slobber was running down their chins.
I love the folks there but did feel a bit culturly out of place.

I'd chalk half of this up to cultural differences and the other half up to some doctrinal differences, which may/may not be reconciled.

And most people just miss my humor all together.
Yes, that was supposed to be funny. In a very dry, multi-layered sort of way. lol

I hate to be the one to break it to you, but foaming at the mouth is not a racially specific behavior. I can't tell you how many times I've been in a service with one of those preachers who gets the white spit on the corners of his mouth--and no matter how hard I try, I CAN'T LOOK AWAY!!!!!
EWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Has no one ever informed these men that they can carry a handkerchief to wipe away the spit?????

I don't know man, I just felt so out of place there....
I could try to explain it, but would it matter?

Maybe if they had visited more Black churches, maybe they'd know that needs to be in their upper left lacket pocket specifically for those spititual and foamy moments....
