Do We Ever Deserve It ?

Have you ever been in a praise service where someone says something like this ?
A minister might say raise your hands if you feel you desreve a blessing from The Lord,if you have been living right and have been faithful then you deserve to receive a blessing from The Lord.

I understand that there are things in the word that if one does they will be blessed, and I understand the principle of sowing and reaping.

However God honors His word and blesses those who abide by it's principles, but does God bless us because we deserve it or does He bless us because He chooses to ?

It seems to me if we deserve the blessings of God,then the principle of Grace is thrown out the window.
If one works for an employer, and draws a check from that employer, that check is not a gift it has been earned.

Do we ever deserve to be receive The Blessings of God ?
Or do we receive the blessings of God because they are gifts of grace ?

I understand we can position ourselves to be blessed.
We can sow seed that will produce blessings and favor with God,but the blessings of God are not merited, because this would seem to do away with the principle of Grace imo.

Re: Do We Ever Deserve It ?

Never heard that. I think if we were honest all of us would drop our hands in shame. We don't deserve the blessings of God our Saviour, that is why they are a blessing. I always think of Is. 1. "they that are willing and obediant shall eat of the good of the land" We just have got to be willing and obey him and he will cause us to "eat of the good of the land." In other words, prosper and bless us.

Never heard it and wouldn't agree with it either.

Always about blessings (sigh)......... How about the congregation telling God, "Lord, we didn't come to receive any blessings, but tonight we only came to worship you."
