Basically, it was: "Look out for those long nosed Jews who will criticize you..." Words to that effect. I was very disappoint with Bother Huntley that day.

On the so-called "con vs. lib" divide as it exists within the UPC, Huntley has positioned himself to be a bit more "moderate" than his neighbor Johnny Godair. The two were seen as close rivals for the NC district crown. When Huntley won out, Godair left the org. Though, we are assured, those two events had nothing to do with one another.

Pure garbage....when Huntley won Godair did not leave....in fact in a later election both names came up and it was split 50-50 so both men took the high road and pulled their names...and a new ballot was voted on...Kenny Godair (Johnys bro) won on this one ....after he served at least 2 terms David Elms became DS. It was during this time that the Res 4 situation came up and the WPF was formed, and Godair left ....it had nothing to do with him losing to Huntley. They are both men of God and gentleman. Kenny Godair told me about this personally while sitting at dinner at a Mimis cafe.

Remember that? And, they're all good ol' boys. They love God and show a great deal of kindness toward others. It's just when they don't allow themselves to think freely that they end up saying things that will make you angry when you see it repeated later on "the Internets."

And, as I said - the gentleman in question was "being nice" when he said what he did. It's just that he had to alienate several million human beings in order to try and lift up his brother. That brother didn't deserve the gesture at that time and the whole thing was regrettable. But, it is also indicative of how we do business.

I cannot believe some of the things I read on here that there is no excuse for. PraiseHymn goes to Atlanta West Pentecostal Church/Pastor Johns. He asked about sending someone to a UPC church and asked what Brother Huntley and his church was like. I told him. I am NOT UPC and do not even subscribe to what all WH teaches but I do respect him in that he does believe it with all his heart and as far as having a great UPC church - he does have that.
Why do we have to just pull things out of the hat and beat people to death on here over NOTHING! We have ALL said and done crazy things in the pulpit and for many of them - I am sincerely sorry. I wish I could go back and undo many of the things I said and did - but it is water under the bridge and all I can do now is to do better and move forward. I am sure WH did not mean any harm in the statements he made. I have heard the best of them slip up and say things that they should not have said.
If these people want a UPC church in Raleigh - I would send them to Brother Huntley's.
The statement that JG left the UPC over WH being elected is a bunch of bull. It simply did not happen. I have preached for both of them and they are good men. I don't agree with either of them on many things - but one thing for sure - they are good men and a person looking for a good UPC or strong conservative church should go to Brother Huntley's and serve the Lord and the Church. JMHO!
