Somehow I pictured people growing white haired standing around someone praying for years.

Well, I believe that it is because HEY! increase your dopimine or your Abilify script and shazzam, you aren't depressed no more.

Well, then someone must have prayed over the supplement, because several on here say that ONLY prayer and having the fruits of the Spirit can make you better.
I KNOW Jesus heals. I have experienced it and have witnessed it. Most healings were not from some "great faith" on the person that was healed either. I am all for praying and trusting God for healing. ( I also believe people are supposed to die and don't always get healed. I know we are not talking about this though.)
If TruthSeeker, I think it is, gets his/her dopimine out of whack some day and he/she asks to be anointed and prayed for and the healing doesn't come, I sure hope he/she comes back here to read this thread. (Meaning I hope you get help if God wants you to do that.)
I am telling you, I know people that God has not healed yet and use medication to balance what is missing in their brain. They still trust God, they have the HS (with evidence for those that are hung up on that) and they pray for God to heal them. I sure do not condemn them for taking the meds.

I can agree with this, those with the belief that "depression is a spiritual problem" would take issue I'm sure.

Re: If You're Depressed and Despondent Get Some H
It’s apparent to me that many of you have never felt the desperation of depression. When you actually think and feel with all that you are that death is the only relief from your despair. I have. At that point, does it really matter if someone can scientifically “prove” with tests that you are clinically depressed? On August 28, 2007, I tried to take my life. It is only by Grace that I was referred to a group of incredible mental health professionals that I am here today. For those of you who do not “believe” in mental health professionals who aren’t “UPC” or “Christians,” how can you know that God did not send these people to me? Oh, is it because they don’t believe the way you do?
Here is what I know:
• Good therapists do not try to impose their beliefs on you
• Good therapists do not try to change a persons spiritual beliefs (for that matter, they do not discuss their own personal viewpoints)
• Good therapists do help a person identify behaviors and ways of thinking that are counter-productive to living a full-filled life
• Good therapists do set specific, measurable goals with their patients
• Good therapists do recommend medical assessments by a licensed physician (by the way, psychiatrists ARE licensed physicians) for patients who exhibit the signs and symptom’s of clinical depression
The river of this topic runs deep for me. I just hope that if you are reading this and you are hurting, you will reach out to someone who has the training to help you.

Thank you for posting this! Very hard for those that have never gone through it to understand.
You are exactly right! So thankful that you were able to find someone to reach out to.

God CAN heal all, but He doesn't always "heal all"!

As I am sure that some of the opponents to this topic would say, a person with an experience is never at the mercy of a person with an arguement. Thanks for sharing your story. I believe that you are not alone.

Thank you for sharing your experience. It would seem that Dora and Irreligious made more sense than those who haven't dealt with depression. I'm even impressed with Carpenter.
