Could you wallpaper over the walls instead of replacing them? It's really easy to put up.
Wallpaper over bad walls shows thru just as it does paint.

Most landlords won't allow wallpaper either if this is a rental.

She said that she used mud and sanded it. I know the mud will shrink after it dries and you have to do it again, but it seems like it could be fixed and then wallpapered. If you do a good sanding job, what would show through?

If the women used glitter glue, I'm sure wallpaper would be acceptable. LOL

I could have wallpapered if I wanted to go through that expense, but the walls aren't perfect or even close to it, so I think it would have also been more trouble than what it was worth.

Regardless, I had to get those decorations off the wall.

There was some sort of wallpaper in the kitchen that partially came off. It was more like wallboard or whatever it's called, because it doesn't come off like wallpaper. I painted it having no other choice, but getting wet from the paint puckered it, but there's nothing I can do about that. It's just on one small part of the wall anyway.

What's amazing to me is that this girl lived there for 7-9 years and the owners nor property managers ever had access to that place. They not only were denied a key, but anytime they wanted in for any reason, she refused, and they just went away. I've never heard of anything like that taking place in any house I've ever rented!

When I was shown the house, they had no idea the condition it was in. THe secretary is who showed it to me, but the property manager said she wasn't supposed to show the place for another two weeks due to nobody seeing it and they knew they were to have it cleaned and possibly repaired.

I'm a sucker. Must be on my forehead.

I fixed up a house - back breaking work. The owner comes in, looks around and says, "This place has never looked this good." He then calls me the next day, "If you don't buy this house you have to move out by this weekend." LOL!

I said, "You have to give me 30 days and then you can have your house."

He came by one day, stood at the back door cursing at me. I said, "Don't you ever come over to this house and speak to me in this manner in front of my children ever again!"

Never heard from him again. We packed and moved - in 30 days.

If the owner tried that with me, you'd be watching us on People's Court!

Re: Need advice about latex paint

Well, just got home after another nightmarish day. How I thought I'd be ready to move today is beyond me.

So, today I finished the trimwork, cleaned ceiling fans, retouched areas that the carpet people messed up, put paint supplies away, and decided it would be a great idea to go ahead and strip the doors and sand and stain them.

My son applied the stripper and I went to Walmart and got supplies. I come back to him just finishing peeling the paint off the door. He said the stripper wasn't working good enough, so he peeled it off. Ok, not a problem.

So I sand. Yeah, that was a great idea, even if it is outdoors. I sanded the front of that dumb door for over an hour! The door wasn't finished when it was painted, so I have to sand white paint off of it. The stripper won't get it off. It's like, molded into the wood grain.

Ok, maybe I just should stick to things I know about, but this isn't rocket science. I'm not the brightest crayon in the box, but my IQ is 3 digits long and doesn't start with 0.

Anyway, we were hoping to move tomorrow, but the weather says there is 60% chance of rain. Figures. I mean, we haven't had rain in over a week while I've been busy painting, so let's just have some when I don't need it to rain!!
