Oh I see - soooooo - I'm a swine for asking you?

I really think that it is important to teach the principle, because I'm unsure of it and I think if you were really sure of it yourself, you would have put forth your thoughts as well.

Re: My Name is on www.wedeclare.org

I say good for you Papa. It's good that there are still at leats 300+ men who stand for somethign in the UPC.

When the majority of the UPC and other organizations that continue to get into bed with teh charismatic crowd end up as nothing more than Vinyard churches falsely claiming to be Apostolic, it is good to know that there will still be at least some men who have the guts to preach that we be seperate from the world.

They may not be correct on all accounts, embracing a sliver of legalism in many cases, but that is far less dangerous and destructive than the alternative.

I agree holiness is an essential part of any christians life, for without holiness you can not see God.

However, modesty standards is NOT holiness.

Holiness is much deeper and more important than dress standards, that ebb and flow with the times.

Maybe we'll see you there.

They do refer to their preaching as "skinning the hogs"

That is one of the most disrespectful things I have ever heard a preacher say,

and one preacher that has said it, is one of the ten founders of wedeclare.org

I agree with this. The people of this movement care deeply about these traditions.

I believe a lot of the reasons the UPC doesn't want to change is because they fear where it will lead to.

The identity of the UPC is threatened if they start to drop certain standards. See, they can drop organized sports, tv, movies, and many other traditions because they weren't supported with scripture.

But the hair and pants issue has been defended time and time again as being scriptural. If they were to drop this issue they would have to say that they were wrong and by admitting wrong then ALL doctrines would then come into question because how can those who have truth be wrong. It is a never ending cycle.

Plus there has been propaganda for years about what happens when people leave the movement. Some of it is true but most of it is way off base and can be confirmed with just a phone call.

Re: My Name is on www.wedeclare.org

Am I the only one having trouble reading clearly the statements of wedeclare.org? This posting by PapaBear makes me wonder what they are saying. Perhaps it's all a misunderstanding due to some poor writing and composition?
ie: "In addition, these things are your Mothers, Grandmothers, and the very image of people who have done so many wonderful things." What??? Someone translate please!

This attitude frustrates me no end.

Anyone who disagrees with someone's interpretation is swine.
