If you are walking through the mall ALONE would anyone recognize that you are a "holiness folk?"

That's the problem with a worldview that equates "wordly people" to their clothes, instead of their spiritual condition. The average PTA mom, Laura Bush and CEO lady doesn't dress like "trash." They may not be welcome at your church, but it certainly is tasteful attire and becoming of a lady.

These generalizations drive me absolutely bonkers, bro!

And that is really what the Apostle Peter is saying when he says that our REAL adorning is not our hair, clothes, and jewelry but our attitude (ref 1 Peter 3:1-6)

Exactly. We use his verse to mean exactly the opposite of what he intended. We use it to focus on the outward, and his entire point was that the outward is not what is most important. Isn't that ironic?

Always extremes. It's more comfortable that way. Marginalize your opponents. Don't bother wrestling with the truth of the matter. Put them in these stigmatized groups, no matter how much they don't fit, and then think good of yourself for being the super hero. That's how novels are made -- the bad guys characteristics are exagerrated to help make the distinction of the good guy. Take the spandex off and put the Word in your hands, looking at it with honesty, not concerned with the results, and without fear. I think you'll do much better.
I remember reading about someone like that who prayed, "I thank thee that I am not as other men..." (Luke 18:9-14)

I don't disagree with the statements in We declare but not sure why Popabear felt it necessary to post them on AFF other than to stir up strife. I do disagree with his attitude as well as the attitude of many here including mine at times. I too will be at the General Conference this time. You won't have a problem finding me, I'd say there won't be many of us with beards. If you see me just walk up and say "Hi Don".

Before reading anyone elses comments, do you happen to own any of RR's holiness books for children? The mother characters tells one of her kids that "God made them look funny" when her daughter questions why a man would have long(er) hair.

probably not unless they saw me smile at someone, or pray for someone, or help someone carry something, or saw me buy somebody's lunch, or speak a word of encouragement to someone, etc.

In my opinion, that is "true" holiness, not the superficial, outward stuff.
